Even with GM NOW! preparation, we recommend introducing any new English willow bat gradually to harder impacts. Begin with gentle throwdowns using an older cricket ball, then progress through spin and seam bowling in the nets before facing a hard new ball at full match intensity. This gives the prepared willow time to condition progressively.
